East Prussia/Kaliningrad region... Koenigsberg/Kaliningrad... Ostsee/Baltic sea... Things gonna happen, but this case quite unic...

Welcome to Baltic Land !

Castle of Koenigsberg was destroyed during WWII

Koenigsberg in the past, Kaliningrad at now... At now it's a western region of Russian Federation, which completely separated from the mainland Russia by two independent states: Lithuania and Belarus... Some compact territory washed by waves of the beautiful Baltic Sea...

Kaliningrad region have 200 km-long borders with Lithuania at north and east. Southern 210 km-long borders with Poland divides former territory of the East Prussia on two almost equal parts. Western border of the area is the 140 km-long coastline. The maximum extent of Kaliningrad region from east to west is 195 km and only 110 km from north to south. Total area - 15,1 thousand square kilometers. Distance from Kaliningrad city up to the Polish border is only 35 km and up to Lithuania - 70 km.

Kaliningrad region as a northern part of former East Prussia has a centuries-old history, unique nature and largest deposit of amber in the World. But not only this... Everyone who though time went on this ground has tried to explain and to adapt by own way different historical events, which have changed destinity of this land ever.  Everyone who though time has touched by this land hasn't remained indifferent...

This page was created in April, 1998 and till now it was updated spontaneously. It's very shame, really... I can't promise that something will be changed here in the nearest future because I'm really busy (not lazy) right now and absolutely have no time for developing my project. But recently there are a lot of nice people have written to me and I have heard only good words about project. It was very pleasant to me and with great pleasure I inform everybody that "Koenigsberg"section, which containing old photos of the beautiful Koenigsberg city, is considerably updated. Unfortunately I can't place any description under most of pictures because my German language is not good enough yet and it's quite difficult for me to translate descriptions to English. I would be very grateful if somebody will agree to help me.

With best regards,

As always modest, Olegus                                                                            Last updated: 07.09.2001
